  社会活動

  Debian Projectのメンバーとしてパッケージのメンテを行なっています。また、日本におけるDebianの普及活動を行なう Debian JP Project のメンバーでもあります。

• どんな専門分野を教えていますか？

  専門分野は「地球流体力学」です。偏西風や黒潮の様な大規模な流れについて研究しています。大型計算機を利用した大規模数値計算とその出力から得られる「データの嵐」をうまく扱うため(という言い訳をしつつ、半ば趣味になってますが)Debian GNU/Linuxの開発に参加しています。
  大学では「計算機の仕組み」「プログラミング技術」「セキュリティ」などを教えています。

  大学の先生になる前は何をしていましたか?

  大学→大学院→研究員→大学教員、と歩んできましたので「大学の先生になる前」は「学生でした」としか言えません…。大学生〜大学院の時は大学の計算機ネットワークの管理とサポートをしていました。

  高校生へのメッセージ

  自分から進んで「学び」を得る様になってくれたら、嬉しいなぁ。
